The Voice of Wild Places
Synopsis
Cornelius Sawyer is a man of many talents, but forgiveness is not one of them. Watt Johnson is a man of his word, yet never in his life has he stood up for himself. Once united by the bonds of childhood—ties now severed by the demands of life—the two are brought together for an all-expenses-paid expedition to Brazil in search of a man the world believes has long been dead: Percy Fawcett. And, perhaps, even the Lost City he sought. Under the guise of conducting research for their respective universities, a reluctant Cornelius and an enthusiastic Watt accept the offer and venture into the unknown, trusting no one but each other. Studying the map, the route and its perils appear to be familiar, easily surmountable obstacles—a notion Watt clings to firmly. Yet Cornelius knows all too well that the river has teeth and that the land sings a siren song to those who yearn to lose themselves in its mountains and basins. To survive the journey, they must confront their inner demons and trust that the other has their best interests at heart. After all, the Voice of the Wild Places is calling, drawing those who have gone adrift back home.
