The Killer

Scene from The Killer (2017), with Cesar Brasil, Etienne Chicot and João Miller.

Direction Marcelo Galvão
Production company: Gatacine
Release date: 2017

Working on a Gatacine project is always completely different from anything else. The feeling of creative freedom combined with a cozy and communal atmosphere makes each filming day a memorable experience. It is impossible to forget the laughs behind the camera with Thogun Teixeira, the not always such successful attempts a chatting in French with the legendary Etienne Chicot and the sort of clumsy fan hug with the immortal Maria de Medeiros. These are all experiences provided by a production that always values the unity of all involved, where it is unknown and matters not who is in the main cast, the supporting cast, an extra, a producer, the director or boom guy. Everyone waits in the same line for lunch and blends in with a single voice exchanging their experiences.

It was also that way when shooting La Riña, another production by Gatacine and also written and directed by Marcelo Galvão, where everyone involved in any way in the film was practically confined for 20 nights in a mansion in Serra da Cantareira, in São Paulo. It didn't matter if we were filming that day or not, everyone was scheduled for every day. It was the most unique experience I've ever had in a film set, and also my first.

The Killer came to me as an invitation from Marcelo, with whom I had filmed my first feature film, a TV ad, a series called A Produtora and even a political campaign reporting program called 100% Positivo.
